Jersey Shore Medical Center, in collaboration with the Center for Thyroid, Adrenal and Parathyroid Disease led by Dr. Alexander Shifrin, leads trials investigating genetic changes in patients with endocrine cancers such as thyroid and pancreatic cancer.
NEW Approaches and NEW Trends in Endocrine Surgery:
Voice Sparing Minimally Invasive Thyroid Surgery with nerve monitoring for the External Branch of the Superior Laryngeal Nerve during surgery - surgery to preserve singing voice and speech (the same day outpatient surgery)
Minimally Invasive and Video-Assisted Parathyroid Surgery - small cosmetic incision that minimizes scaring to minimum. All parathyroid surgeries are performed with intra-operative parathyroid hormone monitoring.
Posterior Retroperitoneoscopic Adrenalectomy adrenal gland laparoscopic surgery from the back. It is truly minimally invasive approach to remove adrenal tumor with minimum scaring, minimum pain and quick recovery within 12-24 hr of the surgery.
